Following the appointment ceremony, Chung Sung-ho was elected as the chairman of the committee, Kang Nam-hoon, professor of Hanshin University, Shim Kyu-soon, chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council's Planning and Finance Committee, Kim Byung-do, vice chairman of the Social Innovation Forum, and Yong Hye-in as spokespersons.
"The basic income policy is becoming a policy faster than we think," said lawmaker Chung Sung-ho, who was elected chairman of the advisory committee. "We will spare no effort at the National Assembly so that basic income can reach the people as a practical policy."
The "2021 Korea Basic Income Fair" will be held at KINTEX in Goyang for three days from the 14th to the 16th of next month. Many experts from around the world will participate, with Abhijit Banerjee, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who won the Nobel Prize in economics in 2019, as a keynote speaker.
The organizing committee and Gyeonggi Province plan to reflect the voices and policy demands of various social classes so that the fair can establish itself as a forum for public debate on new policy agendas for a better future, such as basic income and local currency.
In consideration of the situation where Corona 19 has not ended, Gyeonggi Province will broadcast major events such as the opening ceremony of the fair, the General Assembly of the Local Government Council, and the International Conference on Basic Income through the fair's website (basicincomefair.gg.go.kr).
It also plans to open an online exhibition hall on its official website in the middle of this month and open an offline exhibition hall when Corona 19 social distancing is eased.
