Ansan City (Mayor Yoon Hwa-seop) announced on the 10th that it has implemented an administrative order that employers who hire even one foreign worker must check and hire the results of the Covid-19 inspection.
The administrative order will be maintained from the 11th to the 25th of this month, and foreign workers who want to get a job during the administrative order must be tested for Covid-19 in advance, and employers must check and hire negative results.
The employer can check the PCR test voice confirmation or text messages received by foreign workers at health centers, and the test results received after the 1st of this month are recognized as valid.
Diagnostic tests can be received at a screening clinic or a temporary screening office where foreign workers reside, and the examination fee is free. However, medical expenses, etc. may be incurred if an examination center installed in a medical institution is used.
Illegal foreigners are also not penalized if they undergo a diagnosis test of Covid-19, such as the suspension of their obligation to notify them of illegal stay, and they can be tested if they provide their name, date of birth, and contact.
Business owners who violate the administrative order may be fined up to 2 million won under the "Act on the Prevention and Management of Infectious Diseases."
Ansan City is the largest industrial city in the Seoul metropolitan area with some 25,000 foreign workers, and has been actively responding since the 8th by operating a "visiting temporary screening inspection center" with thorough quarantine to prevent infections in the workplace.

Gyeonggi Province earlier issued an administrative order to conduct diagnostic tests on one or more foreign workers and business owners in the province from the 8th to the 22nd of this month, and the city's administrative order is expected to further strengthen quarantine management.
