Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced on the 24th that it will pay the second Gyeonggi Province Disaster Basic Income" to foreigners living in the province for a month from April 1st, 100,000 won per person, the same as Koreans."
As of January 19, 2021, the date of announcement of the second basic disaster income plan, 570,000 foreigners (including foreign compatriots) who have registered and reported residence in Gyeonggi Province remain in their current stay.
This is 5.7 times more than the basic income of the first foreign disaster last year, which was paid only to about 100,000 marriage immigrants and permanent residents. As the unprecedented disaster situation of Covid-19 is prolonged, both domestic and foreigners are suffering from economic difficulties, so the target has been greatly expanded.
The application period is from April 1 to April 30, and it is possible to apply online and offline considering the quarantine situation.
First of all, you can apply online from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. through the disaster basic income website (forbasicincome.gg.go.kr) for foreigners only (provided in Korean, English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Russian) regardless of weekdays and weekends. However, on April 1, the first day of application, applications can be made from 9 a.m.
For offline applications, visit the administrative welfare center of Eupmyun-dong from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week (Monday to Friday). Weekends do not open windows in principle, but they are allowed to operate autonomously depending on the situation of each city and county.
In order to prevent congestion at the beginning of the offline window, a five-part system will be applied from April 1 to April 9 depending on the year of birth. Birth year ends on Monday, February 7 on Tuesday, March 8 on Wednesday, April 9 on Thursday, and May 0 on Friday.
Basic disaster income shall be paid in local currency (card type, tributary, etc.). The period of use is until June 30, and the unused portion will be recovered. It should be used at local currency franchises in the region, and department stores, large discount stores, entertainment businesses, and gambling businesses are not allowed.
Seongnam, Siheung, and Gimpo, which do not use card-type local currency, may apply offline only. Minors can also apply offline.
The province plans to make every effort to take quarantine measures by further increasing the issuance window by looking at the future application trends and conducting preliminary inspections of on-site quarantine situations.
Kim Kyu-sik, director of the labor bureau in Gyeonggi Province, said, "As everyone is in a difficult time economically, there is no reason to exclude foreigners other than this. "We will continue to make efforts to promote universal policies for stable community settlement and social integration of foreign residents," he said.
