Provincial government to install ‘Gyeonggi Shinbo regular branch’ in four cities and counties in the northeast for ‘balanced economic development’
○ Provincial and Gyeonggi Shinbo branch decided to install ‘regular branch offices’ in 4 cities and counties in the northeast
- Restricted operation method 'business trip consulting office' → switch to 'regular branch office' in the same way as branch offices
- Yangpyeong, Dongducheon, Gapyeong, and Yeoncheon awards… all expanded during the first half of this year
○ Expected balanced regional development and economic recovery by improving access to Gyeonggi Shinbo and strengthening financial support
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that it has decided to expand and operate the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation (Gyeonggi Shinbo) branch offices in four cities and counties, including Dongducheon, to improve the financial infrastructure in the northeast region.
Gyeonggi Shinbo is the only policy financial institution in Gyeonggi-do that provides practical financial support through a guarantee system to small and medium-sized businesses and small business owners in Gyeonggi Province who have business performance and technology but have difficulties in raising funds from financial institutions due to lack of collateral.
Currently, it has 'branches' in 25 cities and counties out of 31 cities and counties in the province, and supports online (PC, mobile) counseling and warranty application services.
The purpose of this regular branch expansion operation is to lay the foundation for balanced regional development by resolving financial blind spots, and to support the rapid recovery of the local economy that has been hit by COVID-19 through timely fund transfusions.
The target is Yangpyeong-gun, Dongducheon-si, Gapyeong-gun, and Yeoncheon-gun among the 6 cities and counties that do not currently have a Gyeonggi Shinbo branch. The target site was determined by comprehensively considering the number of population, aging, accessibility, and regional characteristics.
In the past, the city and county had operated a ‘business trip counseling center’ instead of a branch to provide financial advice, but the reality was that one employee worked 2 to 6 hours a day, twice a week, making it difficult for local residents to receive timely services.
Moreover, in the case of the region, due to the nature of the urban-rural complex city, there were many elderly people who had difficulty using mobile or computer (PC), so in-person counseling was more necessary than online counseling.
Unlike the existing business trip counseling offices that operated limitedly, this 'always-on branch office' expansion is operated 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) and 7 hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) the same as branch offices, and includes financial counseling, It is characterized by carrying out warranty work.
To this end, the provincial government plans to start operating branch offices from the area where preparations have been made through procedures such as resident manpower assignment and office configuration, and all four cities and counties are expected to be expanded and converted during the first half of this year.
Kim Sang-soo, head of the regional finance department, said, “In keeping with the rapid changes in the economic and social environment caused by COVID-19, we have decided to operate the Gyeonggi Shinbo branch at all times to quickly solve the financial difficulties of the residents. We expect it to contribute to improving convenience.”
